1 June is World Milk Day.
Established by the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organisation (UN-FAO), World Milk Day acknowledges the importance of milk as a global food and the contribution of the dairy sector. This year's event is the twentieth anniversary of World Milk Day, and friends of dairy across the world will be participating in a number of contactless events to support dairy farmers or will be raising a virtual glass of milk.
Find out more about the global events taking place by clicking here.
Australians will be doing their bit, too, and there are a few uniquely Aussie events to keep an eye (or ear) open for:
- Dairy Australia's World Milk Day "Milk Bottle Challenge". Grab two milk bottles. Throw on some footy boots. Execute the perfect trick shot. Post your milk bottle challenge trick shot to social media with the campaign hashtags #worldmilkday #milkbottlechallenge.
- Dubbo's Hit Radio will be #enjoyingdairy on World Milk Day.
- Dairy Industry Association of Australia has organised a favourite dairy recipe competition. Entries close on 5 June 2020, with the winning recipe to be featured in the August edition of Australian Dairy Foods magazine.
From all of us to all of you who support your local dairy farmers: thank you. #worldmilkday
